Space Cowboy
By Rurik, 2005
"Look.
Alls I'm saying is that Kirk is way better than Picard."
"fdslakf
das;don't even know what you're talking about."
"Hey,
I'm just saying."
Kyo
looked around. A lot of people were running down to the olde spaceporte.
They were running with eager looks of excitement on their faces, knocking
on doors to grab relatives and friends. It was like a bunch of depressed,
sandy cats rushing towards a kind, bearded man who played the guitar
and was giving out saucers of milk. Kyo grabbed an obviously Mexican
Hekshanian by the shoulder and pulled him to the side.
"Hey,
dude. Wha's going on here?"
"Hey,
mang. Dinchoo here? Some bigass mufuggin ship comin in man. Shootin
out all the mines with spaze lazerz. Shou' probly lan' sooon,"
quoth the Mexishanian. "O rly," Kyo replied, his eyebrows
extended a fair distance into his forhead. "Ya rly," and with
that, the Mexishanian was off, scampering off in hopes of maybe stealing
some lasers, or perhaps landing him some sweet alien v a g i n
a .
"So
Grey," Kyo said coolly, looking to the scrangly youth standing
next to him. "i was thinking a FANTASTIC IDEA." Grey looked
at him with a typical bored scowl. "You want to do what the shiftless
Mexican said to do."
"Yes
:D" Kyo said, his eyes shining like luminescent puppies. Grey sighed,
and started shuffling towards the spaceport. Kyo began to prance circles
around him, until Grey pushed him into some garbage. He walked the rest
of the way with an embarrassed look on his face.
Kyo
and his young padawan learner arrived just in time. A sizeable crowd
was already built up, and the ship had just landed. Kyo began to weave
through the crowd, holding on tight to Grey, as meanwhile the ship's
hatch began to jut open. A cloud of ominous, cliched smoke floated out
of the ship. A group of silhouetted figures stepped forward, the crowd
looking on with bated breath. The first figure identifiable from the
smoke was a slinky black panther (power!). He stared into the crowd
with his dead green eyes, stopping on Kyo, just as he emerged to the
front of the crowd. Kyo could feel the pair of eyes boring through his
entire body, as if he wasn't even there. Behind him, Grey began to tense
up. Next down the velvet runway, was a tall, powerful looking woman.
She would be beautiful, if it were not apparent that she in fact was
a soulless woman, more likely to disembowel you for money than to make
sweet, tender love to you. She was holding a long leash, which led behind
her into the smoke.
After
a cripplingly long silence, she suddenly and sharply spoke, in a hard
voice, "I am looking for a young man by the name of Daran Cheever.
There is a tremendous bounty on his head, and I know for a fact that
he is residing in the city." The crowd looked around, muttering,
wondering who they were talking about. "It is in your best interest
to turn him over to me- I have one of your own, and I won't hesitate
to kill her here and now." She jerked on the leash, and out from
the smoke stumbled Soshika Lypha. Her hands and legs were bound with
rough cord, and she was wearing a muzzle. The leash went to her neck,
and kept going into the smoke. There were others behind her.
The
crowd began to mutter even more fervently, various emotions welling
up throughout. Kyo just looked ahead, dazed. "lykia..."
"So?
Will no one rescue this wretch? Will no one turn in this fugitive
of the law to save the life of a relative innocent?"
Another
resounding wave of silence resounded throughout the crowd, and finally,
after what seemed hours, Grey stepped forward from behind Kyo, jerking
his hand from his wrist. Asilin suddenly broke into fluent French, a
sadistic grin on her face.
"Ha
ha ha ha! What is this, boy? You were HIDNG, behind civilian,
even? You, of all people?" Grey stared ahead, a dead, angry
look on his face, and said calmly in an even more elegant, subtle accent
"I don't much care to be berated by a murder."
"Oh,
you are certainly one to talk. You've killed far more than have I."
"Can
a machine be charged for its actions? Can you fault something that does
the only thing it can? I came to a choice, and decided it wasn't for
me. You came to the same choice and opted to continue your given path.
Can you pretend to be any better than I"
"I
can still kill her now, you fool. A simple jerk of this cord, you know
I can snap her neck."
"Always
a murderer, aren't you. For once and for always."
"Enough.
What is it going to be youngling? Will you come with me, or do I have
to kill each and every one of them, in front of you."
Grey
stared ahead. The smoke had cleared, and he could see that Asilin had
managed to capture the rest of the Jester X's crew. He stared dully
at their faces, mulling over his options. They helped me, he
thought. They took me, and took care of me. But. They didn't care
about me. I'm just a thing to them. A tool with which to spite the Rulerists.
But him. Grey glanced over to Kyo, who was still struck dumb by
what he saw before him. He's nice. He's done nothing but try to help
me. He's taken care of me, risked his life for me. And not because I'm
some tool or weapon. Because he felt like it. He looked next at
Soshika, who stood behind Asilin, tears welling in her eyes. She didn't
want to put Kyo through this again. She didn't want him to see another
death, but she couldn't let Asilin get Grey. She stood there, the epitome
of failure and emo-depression. It would make him happy if I saved
her, though.
Asilin
just stood there, staring at Grey, her mouth full of cocka
cocky grin on her face. The crowd stood there, watching, trying to ascertain
the situation, while Kyo stood there still, dumbfounded. Grey said simply,
in simple Uni: "a duel." Asilin penispenispenis
cocked an eyebrow up, staring quizzicly at the figure before her.
"a
duel. if i win, they go free. if i lose, i'll go with you."
"Interesting,
I fail to see the advantage. You have plenty to gain, what do I?"
"the
hostages. if you win, they're still yours. you've never been one to
give up a kill."
Asilin
grinned darkly at Grey. "Fine, little boy. We can duel, then."
The
crowd had migrated to a street. All were crowded up on the sidewalks,
leaving the majority of the road open. Grey and Asilin were at opposite
sides of the road, each with a crowd gathered around them. An elderly,
sea-green Hekshanian stood in the middle of the road, picked by Dark
Brother to referee or something.
"Um.
As soon as ya'll've picked your weapons, come up here. I guess. ...probably."
Off to one side, Asilin swung a sword she selected from aboard her ship.
She smiled smugly and nodded as she walked towards the center. Meanwhile,
on the other side, Grey was examining three lightweight, identical knives.
He went over each one throroughly, as if looking for molecular imperfections.
He finally selected one, and deftly balancing it in between his fingers
announced "done."
"ER.
Are you sure? You just want that little knife?" Kyo asked Grey,
the concern showing heavily in his voice. Grey looked straight at him
and nodded. "certain."
Grey
and Asilin stood across from each other, staring directly through the
makeshift referee. Asilin had shed her ominous black armor and stood
now in a simple tanktop, her toned muscular arms beginning to sweat
under the Hekshan sun. The reff shuddered just a little bit and decided
that it was getting' to be abouts time to get the fuck out of there.
"Okay. Um. You guys are ready now, so I guess. Start whenever you
want. Well after I'm out of the way pleaseidontwanttodie kthxby."
The old Hekshanian ran off to huddle up with his wife, who patted him
on the back. There's no shame in running from between two killers.
The
two combatants just stood there for a while, staring. The tension was
fiercer than a polar bear in heat. Not a sound was made over the entire
crowd. Even the crowd of proud fighting roosters gathered around the
blatant Mexican sterotype daren't make utter a single cawk. Finally
Asilin moved.
"This
is wasting my time. I'd like to be leaving this dirtball soon."
She held her hand up, and it glowed a blue light. A gentle flick of
the wrist and she threw Grey's knife to the side. Grey, however, held
on like a motherfucker, and, using the knife's own momentum, span deftly
on his heel. A shriek was let out. Grey's open hand was pointed straight
at Asilin, the knife deep in her arm. She began to swear. "FDJSALFK
DSA AAAA IT'S IN THE BONE IT'S IN THE MOTHERFUCKING BONE!" Dark
Brother looked quizically at his sister, intruiged. "FDSAF THE
KNIFE HE THREW THE KNIFE AND IT'S IN MY BONE NOW MY FUCKING BONE AAAARG"
She gripped the knife with her right hand and ripped it out with one
quick movement. Again, she screamed an incoherent slur of profanities.
She looked up just in time to see Grey grab her throat in middair. Tumbling
the the ground, he never loosened his grip. Down on his knees, he had
her pinned, his fingers daintily crushing her trachea. Her face turning
red, she swiftly kicked Grey in the testicles. He crumpled haphazzardly
to the ground. Asiliin lept up, gasping for precious precious oxygen.
Oh, though it had only been a short ordeal she had already grown to
miss the sweet sweet element. Quickly she ran to grab her sword, but
when she turned around to finish him off, Grey was no where in look.
Asilin began to panic- she looked around worriedly for about half a
second before she felt it in the square of her back. Grey's foot, that
is. She was again deprived of precious Mother Oxygen, and fell to to
ground, trying to breathe. Jamming her face into the dirt, he looked
down at her. Twirling his knife in one hand, he bent down and grabbed
most of Asilin's hair, exposing her powerful, nubile neck. Asilin's
face, though unseen in the dirt, was contorted into an unspeakable look
of hatred, tears of fury swelling in her eyes.
The
slash was quick.
Grey
stood up straight, silent. The audience gazed on, still not daring to
breath. Grey held up his hand and let the hair scatter in the breeze.
Asilin got up shakily, sporting a fashionable new 'do. She looked at
Grey, dumbfounded, for a while, until finely life returned to her. She
clenched her fists, which were shaking at her sides And screamed "What
the hell is wrong with you!" Grey looked at her like a retarded
mute.
"Why
didn't you kill me! I was right there, you had me! You had the perfect
chance, why didn't you kill me?!"
"i
decided i didn't want to kill you."
"Why?!
It doesn't make sense!"
"it's
our choices that make us human."
Asilin
just stood for a little bit, the look of anger and contempt calming
down. She gritted her teeth and looked Grey in the eyes: "Fine.
The prisonors are yours." The crowd let out a tremendous hurrah,
and several roosters flew into the air. Asilin began to make her way
back to the ship. "Don't think this is over. I'll be back, Daran.
You've just bought yourself some time."
Grey
went over to the bound crew of the Jester X and cut them free, one at
a time. He cut Soshika last.
"Grey...
I.... I was wrong about you. You... aren't just some filthy human. You're...
you're amazing." She looked down into Grey's eyes, tears welling
up in her own. "Grey, I've made up my decision. I, I want you to
fuck me. Right now, in the street." Grey looked at her, and said
with great force, "Hell Yes." And, with the crowd cheering
and egging them on, he ripped her clothes off and PULLED HER DOWN TO
THE STREET AND DID HER RIGHT! Ashido and Koji looked on with anticipation
lighting their eyes.
"Hey,
me next, Lover Boy!"
"Oi,
get in line, harpy,"
"Oh,
what then, you want to bring it?"
"Oh,
that's it, it's ON MOTHERFUCKER." And Ash and Koji began a' fightin'
and a' feudin' and eventually just started to fuck eachother's brains
out. Nine months later they had thirteen childrens, each as ugly as
sin. :D
